Some really cool facts about cards !!

  • In the 1970’s, the typical age range of people who gamble or play cards was 30-55. Today, it is age 17-70.
  • We end up using a lot of everyday phrases that have origins in cards. For example, “I bet…”, “The odds are…”, “I have an ace in the hole…” etc.
  • President Nixon (of U.S.A.) won a cool six grand playing card game poker with his Navy friends and he used a large part of the money to fund his first campaign for the Congress.
  • Approximately 5% of people who play card games will eventually become compulsive gamblers/cards addicts.
  • Some places in Las Vegas have daily jackpots of $20000 in card games, betting etc.
  • Some of the popular forms casino and cards games in the present day are poker, slots, blackjack, video poker, roulette, craps, paigow, kino and many more.
  • Gambling and card games pre-date written history.
  • Historical evidence suggests that gambling and cards games originated in China dating to 2300 B.C.
